What is VFX:  Live Example and Why You Should Choose a Career in VFX

What is VFX:  Wikipedia gives a fantastic definition for VFX, “Visual effects (VFX) are the various processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shoot. Visual effects involve the integration of footage and generated imagery to create environments which look realistic, but would be dangerous, costly, or simply impossible to capture on film.”

Live Example (from recently released Special 26 film):  See the Following Video

Now let’s see the following 4-minute film (Special 26 VFX Breakdown):

As you can see, with the use of VFX:
1. They got Akshay Kumar and the heroine to sit in the studio but showed as if they are sitting beside a sea.  It saves a huge amount of saving in terms of transportation, logistics, etc.
2. They have created a flight with VFX.  Therefore, the team did not have to hire an airplane and the team did not have to take the trouble of going to an airport.
3. With the use of VFX, they have built and enhanced sets – again a huge saving!
4. They have created ambience by adding Ambassador taxis, etc.  Thus any old-time, current, or futuristic movie making become easier with VFX.

Why You Should Choose a Career In VFX:

1. It’s growing and needs many people to work in this field.
2. Creative field – good for creative people
3. Very good salaries
4.   You can learn VFX if you have appeared for or passed Higher Secondary

Workshop Success

Ready To Go? Animate - Animation Academy conducted its first free workshop for this year on the 10th of May. It was met with great success as all the available spots were filled. The students took a keen interest in the workshop where they were given an introduction to VFX.

The students were first spoken to about animation, VFX, and their applications in the industry. The teachers then showed the process of how VFX animation is used by large Hollywood and Bollywood production houses to make some of the biggest blockbusters of the film industry. They were showed a break down of the VFX process of some of the recent blockbusters. Finally, the students were given a hands-on experience to the process. They were made to use the computers to create some VFX animation effects themselves.

By the end of the workshop, the students were very fascinated by the overall impression that they received and started considering Animation as a future career option.

Free Animation Workshop: Attend Free Workshop at RTG Animate to Decide Your Dream Career

Today Animation / VFX is a great career option, and youngsters join different animation academies in hordes. However, in most of the cases, the decision of joining one animation course is taken in a whim.  The decision is taken because:

1.  The student likes a particular form of animation by watching them in TV/movies and would like to do that course only.

FACT:  The student's skill may be better suitable for another course.

2.  The student joins a particular course because the counselor recommends it to him/her.

FACT:  Given the practice of setting stiff sales targets for counselors in some academies, the counselor may fail to guide a student to the best option.

3.  The student believes s/he should specialize in a particular stream of animation because 'jobs' are happening there.

FACT:  If a student is seriously studying at a good college, jobs should not be a problem.

Therefore, before joining an animation course, you should ask the following questions:

1.  Should I join animation course at all?  Or I may shine somewhere else?
2.  If I join animation course, which stream is best suitable to me?
3.  If I pursue an animation course, what lies in the future for me?

All the questions mentioned above will be answered at RTG Animate Seminar Hall every Friday starting May 10, 2013, through a Free Workshop.  The workshop will start 4:30 p.m. and will last for about an hour.  Candidates who have appeared for their HS/passed HS or Graduation or Higher, may contact the college for further details:
